Product: HP LaserJet 400 M401dne
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have the LaserJet printer stated above, with two trays. The upper tray (tray 1) has A4 paper in it and the lower tray (tray 2) A5 paper. I configured the printer in the windows printer settings to have A4 in tray 1 and A5 in tray 2, and I also configured the same on the webpage of the printer (accessible by IP address). When I try to print an A4 document, the printer ejects an empty A5 sheet (and vice versa) and gives the error "unexpected paper size in tray".
I already tried:
* switching paper in tray 1 and tray 2 (with and without adjusting the configuration of the printer)
* resetting the printer by pulling the power cable and wait for 60 seconds
* reinstalling the printer driver on the client machine
What else can I try?

pulling the power cord is unlikely to clear anything. Either perform a factory reset or an Nvram reset.

Thanks - and how can I factory reset the printer? I did not find a solution on the net.
