LJ M602

I have several M602 but this one is giving me trouble. I was working fine then put in storage for several months after some office moves. Last week I when and hooked it back up and it seemed fine. I was able to set it up and connect to the server (W-2012) but after I printed a windows test page I went down and it had printed the page but there was a 46.23.3F error on the screen. Now I cant get it to come up enough to even try and flash the firmware. Any ideas?

not 100% sure, but i think that error is like a 49 corrupt printjob.  make sure the print queue is empty, maybe even stop and restart the print spool.  disconnect the printer from network, see if it comes to ready and print internal reports.  if you can print without error w/ the network disconnected, you probaly have a bad print job or faulty embedded ethernet.

I thought of that. After pulling the power I also pulled the network. After powering back on, I reset to network defaults, upgraded the firmware, set to firmware to FutureSmart 3 and then printed a config page. the page printed but then immediately gave the same error.

46.23.3F- Engine Communicator error

Description
An internal communication error has occurred.
Recommended action
  1. Power cycle the printer.
  2. If the issue persists, send an onsite technician with the below parts and instructions:
    1. Check the connections of the FFC at the DC Controller and at the Interconnect PCA for proper insertion and alignment of the FFC.
    2. If the issue persists, replace the FFC (HP Part #: RK2-4077-000CN).
    3. If the issue persists, replace the Interconnect PCA (HP Part #: RM1-8291-000CN).
    4. If the issue persists, replace the DCC (HP Part #: RM1-8293-000CN).

Well I replaced the DCC and still have the same issue. It will print one print job and then it gives the error. The FFC looks to be fine. I'm not sure what the Interconnect PCA is and I cant find that part number (HP Part #: RM1-8291-000CN) in the service manual but I'm guessing its the piece that the the other end of the FCC plugs into.  I have another one of these printers in a box. I think I'm going to test that one and then, if good, swap the FCC and what I think is the Interconnect PCA.

I just realized that I'm now getting the error 49.2F.FF instead of 46.23.3F.

HP Recommended

Do not swap the interconnect pca. You will have 2 bad printers if you do. You never should use a used interconnect  board since it contains backup information on your printer. When you replace the interconnect board it should be a new unused part. If now getting a 49 error try connecting the printer with usb to a local computer and see if you can send internal pages like word, etc and not get the error. Most 49 errors are bad print jobs.

I'm getting the error when I print a config page from the printer itself. I hadn't hooked it back up to the network yet. Thanks for the warning on the interconnect PCA.

49.2F.FF
Description
Generic Unhandled exception error.
Recommended action
Check that the FFC cable is not damaged and is properly seated between the DC Controller and the Inner connecting PCA.
If reseating the cable resolves the issue the DO NOT replace any parts.
Reseat DCC, check all connectors. If it brings not to a solution, replace DCC.
If the FFC cable is damaged then replace the cable, RK2-4077-000CN.
If after replacing the reseating or replacing the cable the issue is still not resolve then replace the Inner connecting PCA, RM1-8294-00CN.

i think hp made a mistake for the first error as the RM!-8294 is what I would call an interconnect which the formatter plugs into. Disregard my previous post as this interconnect board does not have backup information and you can swap with the other unit. The only issue with this model is you can not replace both the formatter and dc controller at the same time as you will lose model information. Also you had ti waut at keast 5 minutes after you installed the new dc controller for all NVRAM information to be written from the formatter. I hope you did this.
