HP Recommended

I've been able to successfully update the firmware on this printer without replacing the ECU.

You need to disconnect the network cable and reboot the printer.

For some reason, the printer may think it is processing a job so you may have to cancel any jobs if it goes to Processing after the reboot.

Have the firmware update downloaded and unzipped.

After printer is ready, connect network cable.

Immediately ftp to the printer IP address using CMD and press enter twice to get past username and password.

As soon as you are connected, type put and then drag and drop the .rfu file into the cmd window.  Press enter from the cmd window.

At this point, the printer should receive the file, then it will automatically reboot.

This has to be done relatively quickly after you connect the cable or the printer may present the error again.  Relatively quickly being within 10-20 seconds after connecting the network cable.
