HP Laser Jet M3035 MFP

Good day folks, I need some help with this error code (Error 49.4CF0). It is on a HP Laser Jet M3035 MFP.  I reset it ,however it came back a couple days later. So far it has happened only three times. The mfp is NOT connected to print to or networked. It is primarily used as a fax machine and sometimes for the occasional copy. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I cant even find out what the error code means.........

49 service errors generally mean that a bad print job was recieved.  You can apply solutions from other printer models to your own as they are all usually the same.

Considering your printer is not connected to a PC or two the network there are a few possibilities:

1. Your printer is somehow connected to a network or PC, said PC is sending bad print jobs.

2. The printer is recieving fax jobs that are then triggering the same 49 service error conditions that a print job normally would.

 

Option 1 should be easy to eliminate.  Stop by the printer and review the Ethernet cable and USB ports.  Confirm nothing is plugged in other than fax and power.  Confirm wireless is disabled if your model offers it.  Check the air to make sure your printer actually is disabling WiFi when it says it is with a laptop and a WiFi analyzer.

 

Option 2 is a little more tricky.  Not much you can do to impact incoming fax jobs.  You can play around with the fax settings and see if you can find one that works better.  For example, I frequently have to disable ECM (Error Correction Mode) for many users as it interferes with fax job reception.  You can check the print and fax log to see if there are any trends around teh times when the 49 errors are reported.  You could contact the senders of these jobs and see if they can contact you an alternative way or adjust teh settings on thier end.
