Hi! I'm owner of a HP LaserJet 100 color MFP M175nw since 8 years back or so and until now never had any problems with printing, copying or scanning. On several occasions I've replaced toner cartridges uneventful. It has been connected to laptop by USB cable (despite initally installed for wireless use whch hasn't worked that well). Today I was about to replace the black toner drum. When I opened the printer I noted the cyan or magenta be in position and closed to rotate to black. After pushing the button I opened again but found the printer to be in position inbetween two toners. Closed again and pushed "rotate". Now with black toner drum in position, the old one was removed, a new one inserted and seemed to go easily into correct position. After closing the printer runs the "initialization" for some time and then end up with error message 52 telling about a problem with scanner and advsing to turn off, turn on the printer. Done and same error returns back. Disconnected power from wall outlet for 60 sec, the restarted but still same error message after the printer has completed initialization with impression of normal sound while working. I then tried to press the "rotate" button but immediately got error code 49 and asked to turn off, turn on the printer. Wanted to make sure nothing was jammed and used the brake release button to manually rotate and remove all the toner drums one by one. No change and error code 52 remains. Decided to reinstall /upgrade software and drivers from HP's website. Used the USB cable connected option. After installation completed still same problem - unable to print, but note that the scanner function is ok even the printer is giving error code 52 mentioning a scanner problem ... Now I'm confused and out of more options in my trouble shooting. Please, advise how to proceed to get back to normal use of the printer again. Big thanks and looking forward to your instant reply. Sven

Hi @Sven61,
Thank you for showing your interest in HP Support Forums. It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts, and other support personnel. I see from the post that you are getting an error on your HP LaserJet printer. Don't worry as I have a few suggestions which should help you resolve this issue.
To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:
Are you using genuine HP toners or refilled toners?
Have you tried to update the firmware for this printer?
Does that Scanner bulb light up?
Does the scanner bar move when you open the lid & press the copy button?
In the meantime, let's try these steps here:
Perform a Hard reset on the printer and make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector.
Remove all the ink cartridges and then try to perform a hard reset on the printer.
With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
Remove USB cable, if present.
Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.
Now insert the ink cartridges and then try to print a test page and check if it works.
If your printer connected wirelessly, make sure to temporary connect the device with USB and then follow the link to install the latest firmware for your printer: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL38106/kj-93552-8/M170_colorMFP_Series_FW_Update-20140618...
