I reset the print system, and then tried to add the printer, I get the following result, see screen shot.     I also tried unplugging the printer, tried again, same result.   The "use" entry does populate "AirPrint" quickly but after that it just hangs.  Can't connect at all now.  I have uninstalled the HP software per instructions.

Have u tried printing a photo from the browser?

Have you tried to restart your computer and then add the printer?

Are you able to print from your iPad now?

I have rebooted everything.  What I'm finding is that it hangs up on some PDFs, so for example an eBay shipping label in pdf form, it just hangs, nothing prints.  I've followed all the steps and still a problem.  In the case of an eBay shipping label, it doesn't work from a Windows laptop, iPad, or my Macbook.   I get this and it just sits there.

Print the PDF as an image

You can print a PDF file as an image.

note:

Printing a PDF file as an image can result in blurry images or fonts, especially along the edges of the print.

  1. Open the original PDF file.

  2. Click File, and then select Print from the list.

    The Print window opens.

  3. Click Advanced.

The Advanced Print Setup window opens.

  4. Click the Print As Image checkbox, change any other settings as desired, and then click OK.

If the issue persists, update PDF(adobe)

So I ran that test, and my MacBook is up to date.  The iPad nor a Windows laptop will not print the shipping label, it just locks up as described earlier.

I ran a test, I printed the attached pdf without the "print as image" box checked, just the first page, and it prints fine.   Then I printed the same pdf,  with the check box checked, so "print as image" is now checked, and it locked up.  I've been suspicious the printer is locking up on images all along.   Here is the file.  Good grief, this forum window does not support a pdf (I get a big red "The file type (.pdf) is not supported" below the forum window?

In any case, I have a pdf that is a clear go, and no go, depending on whether this checkbox is checked.   Is there a diagnostic log on the printer that dumps, as this does not appear to be a laptop or ipad issue, the printer is choking on images I think.

Could you try and uninstall and reinstall the adobe app and check if that resolves the issue.

Reinstalled Adobe, but again this is happening from multiple devices.  When I print as image, it hangs with 11% transmitted, and then after a while, it 'flashes" an error but only for a second, something to the effect of "Could not print........broken  (maybe "data").  Of course I can't find a log of event to tell you exactly, it flashes so quick and not aways in predictable timer periods once print is initiated.  Is there a log of these errors?

Does this only happen when your printing PDF files?

HP Recommended

It happens when I print PDF files but not always, one thing I do know: I have a PDF that will NOT print if the "print as image" IS checked, but it WILL  print if the check box is NOT checked.    It will also lock up when I try and print a picture from iPhoto.    Or if I try and print an eBay shipping label (print as image checked or not, in this case it doesn't seem to matter).

Everything else prints.

By the way, the eBay shipping label opens in a PDF viewer.
