Hi! @Anuvind8131, Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues, with help from the community!

I understand you are getting a fatal error during printer software installation.

Don't worry I'll try to help you out.

Did you make any software or hardware changes on your laptop?

Do you get any error when you install the drivers on your PC?

Try the steps recommended below.

On the Windows taskbar, click Start (), and then click Shut Down ().
From the What do you want the computer to do? drop-down list, click Restart, and then click OK.
Download and install the latest printer software
Go to the HP website to download and install the most current version of the print driver and software for your printer.
Turn on the printer.
If your printer is connected to the computer with a USB cable, disconnect the cable from the printer.

Download the full feature printer software using this link.

Edit permissions for Users, Administrators, and SYSTEM

On the Windows taskbar, click Start.
Click My Computer.
Right-click System (C:), and then click Properties.
   NOTE:
If your drive is not System (C:), change to your drive name and letter.
Click the Security tab.
Under Group or user names, click Users.
Under Permissions for Users and the Allow column, check these boxes:
Read & Execute
List Folder Contents
Read
Click Apply.
Under Group or user names, click Administrators.
Under Permissions for Administrators and the Allow column, check the same boxes as you did for Users, unless they are already checked.
Click Apply.
Under Group or user names, click SYSTEM.
Under Permissions for SYSTEM and the Allow column, check the same boxes as you did for Administrator and Users, unless they are already checked.
Click Apply.
Click OK.
Click Yes on the Windows Security message box.
If you receive an Error Applying Security message, click Continue.
On the Windows taskbar, click Start, and then click Shut Down.
From the What do you want the computer to do? drop-down menu, click Restart, and then click OK.
Try to install the HP printer software again.

Also, try creating a new user account on your PC and install the printer software.

@Anuvind8131,

I read the private message. Thanks for replying. It is splendid to hear from you again. Your patience and time are greatly appreciated. You've displayed magnificent commitment, immense patience coupled with sound technical skills to try and resolve the issue. Kudos to you for a job well done. 🙂 As @A4Apollo  is out for the day, I am taking over from here.

Please try these steps for now:

Press “Windows key” + “r” to get the “Run” window.

  • Type "services.msc" to get Services – Go to “Print spooler” – Right-click and “Stop” the service.
  • Now again open "Run" - Type “spool” and ok - Go to PRINTERS folder - delete everything in that folder.
  • Go to services again - Start the print spooler.
  • Now check for issue resolution.

If the issue persists, also try clean installing the printer drivers. Here are the steps:

  • First, unplug the USB cable from the printer, if present.
  • Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Photosmart printer entries and uninstall them.
  • Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
  • Press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" (There is a space between .exe & /) and press enter.
  • Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
  • Again, go to the Run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Then create a new user account as an administrator  from this link:http://hp.care/2rZfJBC

Log into the new user account after restarting your computer.

  • Then download the latest full feature driver from http://hp.care/2sJNa0y and install it on the computer after selecting the correct operating system.
  • Connect the printer to your computer only when the setup prompts for the printer.
  • This should fix the issue.
  • If it does not try the basic drivers also.

If this does not do the trick, please download the Windows Built-in drivers by following instructions from this link: http://hp.care/2o3acvH

Now check for issue resolution. If it persists, then back up your important data and perform a push button reset of Microsoft Windows 10 from this link: http://hp.care/2toQrBj  then reinstall the printer drivers from the HP support site.

The issue should get fixed.

Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes. To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as Accepted Solution as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.

Take care and have a blessed week ahead. 🙂

Cheers!

Still the issue existing after trying the spool clearing method, just to inform that Iam trying to install the printer using network port. So any additional steps to be carried while trying the second method(through new user).

@Anuvind8131,

Thanks for the r\super quick reply. Please try these steps:

  • First, delete the printer from the computer by following the steps from my earlier post.
  • Then create a new user account.
  • Install the printer as a USB printer in the new user account.
  • Follow all the steps exactly as mentioned in my previous post.
  • First, install it as a USB printer.
  • Then follow the steps from the last option in this link: http://hp.care/2DvLNUT (HP Printers - Wired Network Printer Setup (Windows)
  • (Can I change from a USB connection to an Ethernet connection?)

If this fails, the only option is to then try the windows built-in drivers and the basic drivers.

Finally, backup files do a push button reset of Windows 10 and reinstall the printer drivers. This is done as a last resort.

Please perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. The trick is to remain patient.

Cheers!
