Firmware Corrupt Ready 2 Download on Laserjet Pro 400

Have tried to upgrade the firmware with the downloaded software.  It begins well:  I get to "Erasing" on the printer screen, but then "erasing" it stays there.  If I reboot the printer, the error message comes back and I have to start over.  I've probably tried unplugging the printer, holding various buttons in on reboot, etc., etc.  If anything could poison a relationship with HP, this could be it.  If I hadn't just replaced all the printer cartridges, I'd replace the printer.  HELP!!

Try to  re-send firmware through USB port and hoping you can see the "Erasing......" and "Programming....." on the screen.

You may need to change the usb connected port from printer properties to get to see the "Erasing......" and "Programming....." on the screen.

If firmware re-sending works but the problem remains then you need to replace the formatter.

Problem is that I get to "erasing" on the printer screen but it never gets to "programming."
