I am not sure of the function of the plastic reservoir at the rear of an M750 Color LaserJet. It looks like it might be for toner, but I don't see a description anywhere plus the toner cartridges go in from the front. Can anyone enlighten me?

Hi @PaulFromAtlanta,
This is the toner collection unit (TCU). Its purpose is to collect the waste toner, which is the toner that doesn't adhere properly to the page while printing. You will have to replace it if it will be filled with toner.
I hope that helps.
Cheers!
