Hi, I'm experiencing problems with my LJ 1018. I noticed that red light on printer is not working, only green light is on and it is not blinking when turning on. When I send document for print, nothing is happening. On Windows it just says that document is sent for print and is not showing documents in printer queue.
I hope for your help.

Let me take a moment to thank you for posting on the HP Support Forums.
I understand that you have an HP LaserJet 1018 Printer. I read that the red light on the printer does not work Only the green light is on. Secondly, when you send a document to print, it does not print. I'll be glad to help.
I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:
- Disconnect the power cable from the printer while the printer is still ON.
- Disconnect any other cables if connected the printer.
- Press and hold the printer’s power button for 15 seconds.
- The printer should be directly connected to the wall outlet and not to a surge protector.
- Reconnect the power cable to print and the printer should power ON by itself. If the printer doesn’t power ON then please manually power it ON.
If the issue persists then please perform the following steps form this HP document:
- Step 2: Check for packing materials and paper.
- Step 3: Check the printer for an additional jammed paper.
- Step 4: Clean the electric contacts on the toner cartridge.
I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. Keep me posted. Good luck! 🙂

I think you should check for the drivers for your operating system and maybe also the latest firmware. It might be that the printer won't be compatible with your windows.Hope this will help.

Ok so the machine is not even doing post-pre startup. If you open the door to change toner on the left hand side on the body is a square hole .Leave door open and try to activate the sensor in that hole with a folded piece of paper. If the machine starts to post thw problem might be on that interlock sensor,

Looks like you're right. I left door open and activated the sensor and maschine started to post and still while doors were open, red light was not blinking. Usually it's always blinking when doors are open and without constant green light but now it was only constant green light and it is always green light showing.
What is location of that interlock sensor?

I'm having the same issue another person. The red light doesn't come on when opening the door. The green light is on. When I try to print, It's says that printer is ready but nothing prints. Also, there is no print jobs when I look to see whats printing. I also took a piece of paper and put it in the square hole and it the sensor and it acts like its going to print but nothing. My question is how do I remove the side door

If there is no driver for your operating system download the latest driver available or even a previous driver and try to use that.I still think that this is a driver issue.Hope this will help
