HP Color LaserJet CP1215
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

I've had my HP Color LaserJet CP1215 for a good few years, with no printing problems. Today I updated the firmware from Version 20071106 to Ver 20120213.  Now the printing is very slow to start and also subsequent pages are slow to print as well.  I've never experienced any problems with this printer previously.

The "Ready" light blinks for more than a minute before the 1st page starts to print.  This printer worked perfectly during the day, as I printed as I usually do.  This started after the firmware update. I've checked the callibration settings and that's all fine.

I've tried all the reponses in other posts relating to this same problem as there seems to be quite a few people who have experienced this.

Is there a way to uninstall this firmware update please?

Thanks for reaching out to us on HP Support Forums. 🙂 I came across your post and would like to help.

I understand that you have an  HP Color LaserJet CP1215 Printer. I read the ever since the firmware was updated on the printer, the printing is very slow. Also, the ready light blinks for more than a minute before the first page starts to print. I appreciate the steps you have performed and have certainly done a good job.

To provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Why was the firmware update performed? Were you facing any other issues with the printer?

Meanwhile, I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:

NOTE: Please skip the steps which you have already performed.

  • Disconnect the power cable from the printer while the printer is still ON.
  • Disconnect any other cables if connected the printer.
  • Press and hold the printer’s power button for 15 seconds.
  • The printer should be directly connected to the wall outlet and not to a surge protector.
  • Reconnect the power cable to print and the printer should power ON by itself. If the printer doesn’t power ON then please manually power it ON.

If the issue persists I suggest you to reset the printer. This will completely restore the printer to its original settings. I have sent you a private message with the reset steps.I would like to know if any changes (hardware or software) took place on the laptop after which this issue may have started.

I sincerely hope this fixes the issue. Keep me posted. Cheers! 🙂

I 'm having the same issue. I'm using Windows 8.1. It seem to happen after installing the HP Laserjet Toolbox. How did you solve it?

The Hp Forum recommended I do the following and it worked! I hope it helps you too.

Below mentioned are the steps to reset the printer:

  1. Turn the product off.
  2. Press and hold down the Resume button.
  3. Turn the product on, and continue holding the Resume button for at least 10 seconds, but not longer than 20 seconds. The Attention light will be lit.
  4. Release the Resume button.
NOTE: If the Attention and either the Paper out light or the Ready light are lit, restart the procedure.

Good luck, Shamin
