my color laser jet 2600n has error message 51.23. It says to turn off and then back on, but, this does not clear the error message. It also makes a loud screeching noise. can this be fixed or do i need to scrap it?
Bought it in 2004 and it's logged 13, 444 printed pages

It can be fixed but the cost may not be worth it. The laser/scanner assembly needs to be replaced as one of the motors has gone bad inside the assembly. If you decide to scrap the printer and have ebay, I would pull the formatter out of the printer and sell it on ebay as people are still looking for this part.
