I have a HP color Laserjet 4700 Series printer. My OS is windows 10. Yesterday I had FiberOptics installed & they replaced my router with a new one of theirs (Country Cablevision). My internet connection works fine BUT my HP 4700 printer (which is connected to the new router with an Erthernet Cable--as it was to the old router) does not work. I keep getting "printer is offline" meassage. I have manully installed the new IP Address into the printer but that didn't work-the Subnet Mask is correct but I don't know if there are other things that I need to changed or not.
The router is a ARRIS Touchstone DOCSIS 3.0 Gateways Model TG1672
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Okay--per your instructions I did a cold reset and then I figured out what you meant by "Once you have the new ip address use that address to load the printer and check the block to find the printer even if the ip address changes." Sorry that I didn't quite understand that last step. But I finally got it and NOW the printer works.
Thanks for your help--you were a life saver!!!

I do not know what you mean by you manually installed new ip address. The printer had an ip address from the old router or was using dhcp and you used hp software so it finds the printer all the time. What you need to do is a cold reset of the printer so it finds a new ip address from the router. Once you have the new ip address use that address to load the printer and check the block to find the printer even if the ip address changes.

The printer was connected to the old router with an Ethernet cable so that cable was plugged into the NEW router. The printer had been working okay before BUT after the ARRIS router was installed it stopped working. I remember having this problem a long time ago & I thought there was something about the IP Address needing to be changed because of the NEW router. So I got online & found info about changing the IP Address =====http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=c00426363
I followed the directions below & I thought that I was changing the IP Address that NEEDED to be changed--but I guess that I actually changed the printers IP Address. Then I went back to the printer & selected the "auto" option for setting up the correct IP Address BUT that didn't work either (of course by now I am thoroughly confused & in need of HELP!)
Use manual configuration to set an IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway.
To Set an IP address perform the following steps:
Press MENU to enter the MENUS.
Press
(down arrow) to highlight CONFIGURE DEVICE.
Press
(check mark) to select CONFIGURE DEVICE.
Press
(down arrow) to highlight I/O.
Press
(check mark) to select I/O.
Press
(down arrow) to highlight the JETDIRECT menu.
Press
(check mark) to select the JETDIRECT menu.
Press
(down arrow) to highlight TCP/IP.
Press
(check mark) to select TCP/IP.
Press
(down arrow) to highlight MANUAL SETTINGS.
Press
(check mark) to select MANUAL SETTINGS.
Press
(down arrow) to highlight MANUAL.
Press
(down arrow) to highlight IP ADDRESS.
Press
(check mark) to select IP ADDRESS.
NOTE: The first of three sets of numbers is highlighted. If a number is not highlighted, a highlighted empty underscore appears.Press
(down arrow) or
(up arrow) to increase or decrease the number for configuring the IP address.
Press
(check mark) to move to the next set of numbers.
Repeat steps 15 and 16 until the correct IP address is entered.
Press the MENU button to return to the Ready state.

I don't understand your comment "need to do is a cold reset of the printer so it finds a new ip address from the router" I think that I did that but I am not sure. I did a cong print out if that is any help-I can post that if you want to see it (would there be any information on that print out that I would not like to go public?)
And I did a print out just now & I see the word "Manual" next to "config by" (I swear that I changed it to "auto" last night--BUT like I say--I am really confused!!!

Okay--I found how to do a "cold reset" :
New Procedure
Newer models, including: HP 3800DN, 4200, 4250, 4300, 4350, 9000, 4600, 5500, 4700
- Turn the printer on.
- Watch the control panel.
- When the memory starts counting, press and hold the green (Select) button. Continue to hold Select button until all three Control Panel LED's are illuminated and on solid.
- Release the (Select) button.
- The control panel will display SELECT LANGUAGE.
- Press (Down Arrow) button until control panel displays COLD RESET.
- Press (Select). The printer will perform a cold reset and then continue its power-on sequence.
I did the cold reset & tried to print but that printer still shows "offline" & will not print.
