HP Color Laser Jet Pro MFP M177fw
Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan

We recently did some moving around and coincidentally our Laserjet M177fw printer will no longer perform any of it's intended functions. When I try to print a page, one of the following happens:

1. Print job will say "Printing - Waiting for job to completed", with no action from the printer

2. Print job will be completed and removed from the queue on computer screen, with no action from the printer

In both cases, there is no response for the printer whatsoever, regardless of how much time has passed.

The  device also won't seem to print the test pages/ reports directly selected from the screen... So both printing wirelessly and directly yield no responses.

I've tried resetting the printer by shutting it off & unplugging for awhile, resetting the wifi router, and also resetting my Mac. When I connect the printer to the wifi, there seems to be no issues with the connections. I've also tried removing and re-adding the printer driver from my device as well as upgraded the printer firmware, however, still no change in status.

What do I do? (Aside from chucking this printer to the curb)

@kaseyynick, Welcome to HP Support Community!

If you are able to make photocopies on the printer and have issues with printing from the computer, follow the steps below-

Uninstall HP software and add your printer

Uninstall any HP software that might have been installed, and then add the printer.

  1. Download and open HP Easy Start.

  2. Open the HP Easy Start drop-down menu, and then click Uninstall HP Software.

    Clicking Uninstall HP Software

  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to uninstall all HP software.

  4. Click the Apple icon , click System Preferences, and then click Printers & Scanners, Print and Scan, or Print and Fax.

  5. Click the Plus sign.

  6. Select the name of your printer from the list, click the Use or Print Using field, and then select AirPrint.

If AirPrint is not available or a specific HP only feature is required, go to 123.hp.com to download the appropriate HP software for your printer.

Adding a printer and selecting AirPrint

  7. Click Add.

  8. Try to print.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
