I had a Netgear router that worked fine with my wireless HP Color Laser Jet Pro MFP M177fw printer. I recently purchased a new TV from Best Buy and they recommended that I purchase a new Linksys router. When they replaced my old Netgear with the Llinksys they took the Netgear with them - it was Netgear 42. Since then, Geek Squad techs have been here several times to troubleshoot, and have been unable to get the printer to stay connected to the new Linksys router. It works fine if I leave the printer turned on continuously, but once the printer is turned off, when I turn it on again - it will not find the router. However, the printer wizard will find every other router in my entire neighborhood - the entire block.
The Linksys does work well with my phone and TV - but will not stay connected to my HP printer. The router is sitting right next to the printer. So the only way my printer will work is to use a hard wire connection from my printer to my computer. Cannot understand why printer can find many other WiFi routers in the neighborhood and not the one sitting right next to it.
Geek squad techs who came over to the house to troubleshoot blamed the router, but the store blames the printer. This has already cost a lot of money.
Any ideas?
Thank you!

Thank you for joining HP Forums.
It's a pleasure assisting you in finding answers to your technical queries.
If you are using a wireless router, check your router's documentation or support site to make sure it meets the following requirements:
Check the router band: Many routers can operate in both 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz frequency bands, but not all HP printers support both bands. Make sure the 2.4 GHz router band is enabled and broadcasting. If the router broadcasts separate network names (SSIDs) for each band, connect the printer to the 2.4 GHz band SSID.
Try connecting to the printer.
Still, if you are facing the same issue I suggest you contact Linksys.
Keep me posted, how it goes!
Have a great day!
Cheers:)

Thank you for your response - I don't actually know how to follow your instructions, but I will share with the Geek Squad tech and see if they already did that - if not I will ask them to do that.
I don't know if they actually gave me any documentation for the router.
I'll get back to you and let you know how this is resolved.
Thanks again!

The Linksys Router I purchased is a Max-Stream AC2200MU-MIMO Tri-Band Router. Band 1 (2.4 GHz); Band 2 (5 GHz); Band 3 5 GHz). I contacted Linksys and they stated that the router needed to be at least 10 feet away from the printer otherwise we could encounter a dead spot - sure enough when we moved the printer, it did connect - however, our office doubles as a guest room and there is not enough room to move the printer 10 feet away from the router on a permanent basis. Linksys recommended a WiFi Range Extender - which we purchased to the tune of $70.00 - this does work - but now I have two routers under my desk - the main one and the mini extender.
I never had this problem with my old Neatgear. We have a relatively small home and we are not gamers.
Best Buy techs originally recommended that I return the Linksys Router and replace is with a Netgear Nighthawk AC2300 Smart WiFi Router - 1 GHz Dual Core Processor - Extended Speed & Range Wave 2 WiFe with MuMIMO.
So now I'm not sure which way to go - return the Linksys router and router extender and set up the Netgear NIghthawk or just keep the Linksys and the Linksys extender. I want to make sure the Nighthawk will work well with my two android phones, my two smart Samsung TVs (I stream some broadcasts) and my computer (HP tower) and my HP printer.
Any advice on which way to go with the Router?
Thank you in advance....I'm reasonably competent with various software applications, but hardware is out of my league. 🙂
