It will depend on how the setup was configured.  Network devices ave a unique address which is assigned when they connect. If the printer software is set to look for that address d it changes, then e error will occur. The HP software should have the option to search for the device. One way around the problem is to assign a static address to the printer.

Hi, I'm having the same problem. We shut our internet down at night and the next day we have to reconnect the printer to the wifi or we can't print. I'm assuming there's a way for the printer to automatically reconnect. Maybe it's in your suggestions below but I don't understand how to execute them.

Can you explain: "The HP software should have the option to search for the device. One way around the problem is to assign a static address to the printer." How do I find the search option and/or establish a static address to the printer?

Thanks.

You configure a static address by one of two methods:

1. on your device that issues the DHCP addresses you reserve an address for the printer. This is usually done by MAC address which is the hardware address of the printer.

2. Go to network settings, turn off DHCP and set the printer for static. It will then ask you for the manual settings which will set to the address the printer had before you turned off DHCP and if you click OK that will always be the address, however I recommend that you select an address that is above 200  to avoid a duplicate address conflict.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried to set up a static address--on the printer there is a choice for static or not, and I chose static. But the same thing happened this morning after the Internet was off--we had to reconnect the printer to the network. Any other suggestions?
