Dear Support,

We have massive issues with HP Color LaserJet Pro 4202 model. The printer constantly get’s unresponsive and drops the Ethernet network connection every 3 to 5 days. The device suddenly drops all ping connections and get’s unavailable in the network. Network printing and accessing the Embedded Web Server is no longer possible. Users have to hard power off the device every 3 to 5 days! Sleep After Inactivity has been set to 30 and 60 Minutes. We completely turned off sleep mode to no avail. A static ip4v address has been properly configured. This is not network issue, it’s a firmware issue. Somehow the HP Color LaserJet Pro 4202 freezes when it enters into sleep mode.

The latest firmware version 6.28.1.47-202603112313 has been installed. The device model is a total nightmare. Network freezes is a serious bug. Reliable network printing is essential to us.

How can we fix the issue?

I suggest that you manually update one unit to see if this resolves the error. (Released July 10th 2026)
