HP Color LaserJet 4700 Printer series
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I've had this printer for a few years, all HP supplies, has worked amazing. Today it stopped printing in color. I ran the diagnostic and no color prints, I ran the supplies information page and got the following:

Black 65%

Cyan 86%

Magenta 76%

Yellow 79%

Image Transfer 52%

Image Fuser 62%

I updated the firmware on the printer to 20141224.46.230.6, restarted the printer and it still will not print anything in color.

I have some two faint streaks on the backs of about a 1/3 of the pages printed. (never did this before today either)

Any ideas? (Printer is out of warranty and showing no error codes on the main window)

It's likely a problem with the cartridge alienation, I have not seen it personally but you should be able to find some information on it.

I looked up cartridge alienation and found a kit that specifically applies to the 4600-series color laserjet.....however mine is a 4700-series. https://www.amazon.com/Compatible-Cartridge-Alienation-Plate-Number/dp/B01KBLI9Q4 (it also shows no errors on the screen)

I also re-seated all cartridges, that made zero difference. Thank you for the suggestion!

One thing I would try is to remove all the cartridges, close the belt, open the belt and re install the cartridges and then test.

On the 4600 day was a rare circumstance where things would be out of sync and you had to have the cartridges out and close the belt before things would line up again.

Just tried as you suggested:

1) pulled all cartridges, then closed all covers

2) re-inserted each cartridge, then closed all covers

a) reports all HP genuine cartridges

b) shows 5770, 9273, 8095 & 7999 pages remaining across black, cyan, magenta & yellow cartridges

c) shows each HP cartridge serial number

d) shows today's date on last used date

However, printing the supplies status page is only black & white, no color is shown.
