Try to print internal reports from front panel to see if can print or not to make sure 5550dn is fine to print.
Then make sure the IP address on 5550dn and Mac are on the same IP area (ie. 192.168.0.xxx)
If you are not sure then get into 5550dn's Network setting from front panel and change the connected method from manual to DHCP (or Boottp if there's no DHCP) then try to connect from Mac to see if it works. If it does work then you'd better memories the IP address which Mac finds out and put it into 5550dn and change the Boottp or DHCP to Manual (Static).
