I havve a Citrix environment that I am publishing shared desktops from servers running Server 2016. When I pass a USB printer through the endpoint to the OS the printer is seen by the OS. I am able to install all of the drivers, and it seems to be prepared to work. When I try to print a test page I get "Error printing on HP LaserJet Professional P1609dn The printer couldn't print Test Page." This is the only message concerning this error that I have been able to find. I have gone round and round with this issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Hi,
Your printer is not supported on Citrix or Remote desktop, such an Host-Based printer is more limited and will not likely be able to be used on such environment.
See below support document for a such, it list any supported printer and does not list your printer as supported:
You may try using Citrix UPD on the server, it may work and may not, referring to both sections on this matter on the guide above:
HP does not recommend the use of host-based printers in Citrix environments. Host-based printers rely upon the bulk of the rendering being performed on the host machine by the host-based driver and are designed for direct-connect, non-networked environments. As a result, host-based print jobs can be considerably larger than PCL-based jobs, which is undesirable when printing over constrained bandwidth connections. An alternative is to use the Citrix UPD to print to a host-based client printer.
HP does not recommend installing these host-based LaserJet drivers on the Citrix server; however, the devices may functionby using the Citrix UPD on the Citrix server with the HP host-based driver installed on the client. Print drivers for your product may be available within the Windows 7 operating system.
