LaserJet 1160
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a LaserJet 1160. It continues to print all documents in simplex form. I have tested this with multiple documents. I have tried plugging the printer USB into different USB ports. I did not encounter this problem when printing from my WIndows 10 laptop, connected using the same USB cable.

  • It is installed with the latest drivers.
  • My system has been restarted.
  • Windows 10 is up-to-date.
  • The troubleshooter has found no problems.
  • The duplex module is set to "installed" and two-sided printing is set to "yes."
  • I am able to select "print both sides" when printing from both Adobe Reader and Microsoft Word.
  • I have confirmed that the printer preferences are also set to "print on both sides."
  • I have downloaded and installed the Windows 10 HP LaserJet 1160 update from the Windows Catalog.
  • There are no error messages.

This waste of paper is getting out of hand. Please, does anyone know what I need to do so that this will actually print two-sided?

Well, it would seem then that my recollection of printing duplex perviously was imagined. The myriad options for enabling duplex printing which the software and drivers display must be the result of an oversight on the part of HP.
