I am having conflicting info from the HP site on what the laser printer will draw from the wall socket, as I'm trying to size an appropriate surge protection with safety breaker.
The product page lists that the power consumption is 25 watts maximum.

URL is here: https://support.hp.com/gb-en/product/hp-color-laserjet-pro-m252-series/7089938/model/7089942/documen...

The pdf on Blue Angel User Information for the printer lists that the printer can draw a maximum of 673 Watts at switch on, and 374 Watts during printing. Nowhere on this document is the 25Watys present either.

URL is here: https://h22235.www2.hp.com/hpinfo/globalcitizenship/environment/productdata/Countries/us/lp_hpcolorl...

Finally, there is no mention at all on how much Amps the printer will draw in any situation.

Which is the official maxdraw in Watts at power on and printing, and what is the official max draw in Amps at switch on and printing?

The first information regarding 25W of maximum power consumption could be a mistake, 25W is way too low for a laser printer.

374W during printing is normal consumption for a standard low-end laser printer without any accessories.

To calculate current divide power with a voltage. For 673W if the printer is connected to 220V then max current should be 3.06A and during printing 374W / 220V = 1,7A

Hi.

The power draw numbers in the first link you provided (25 watts) is clearly a typo, or incorrect.

The 673 startup/374 continuous numbers seem perfectly in line with what I'd expect out of a color laser printer, so I'd trust those as correct.

Given that you have the wattage, amp draw is an easy calculation (Amps=Watts/Volts)

Assuming you're in the US (110 volts), the amp draw at startup would be Amps= 673/110, or about 6.1 amps.

Good Luck!
