HP LaserJeft M277DW
Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite

Brand new printer. Notice that the black is faded on the right side of the page. Left side black color is great. Probably the right 1/8. Diagnostics page also shows this. I have tried all the cleaning and calibration tools without luck. I have also removed the black toner and gently rolled it from side to side per the troubleshooting steps. No help.

Anyone seen this before and know the fix?

Thanks.

@jayhawkintx, Welcome to the HP Forums!

I read your post about the print quality issues your LaserJet M277dw is experiencing, and wanted to drop in to share my own suggestions. Check out the link below and try the troubleshooting for this type of issue. If the quality does not improve, contact HP directly at their info below to discuss a replacement printer order.

Any hints on this KNOWN issue?

My printer does exactly what the above poster's is doing - fades out on the right 1/8th of the page.

I tried all the troubleshooting steps.

I am open to any suggestions, including taking this to the landfill and writing it off as a mistake.

Personally, I would trust HP more if you just came out and said "yes, this is a known isuue."  It might cost you you more in the short run, but you'd have loyal customers in the long run, which would come out to higher profits.

Hi, don't know if you'll see this, but how did you ever resolve your issue with the fade on the right-hand side?

Hello, @DattaGroover - Hope you are well 🙂

Thanks for reaching out! I'd like to be of your assistance!

I do understand that you are facing print quality issues while using the LaserJet printer. First off, this is not a known issue. For every printer, at some point, you will face certain issues like print quality, paper jam etc. But, having said that, I'll do my best to help you find the bottom of this issue 🙂

Now,  to assist you with this issue, I need to know whether the printer can make a "Photocopy" or not.

Place a document face down on the scanner glass and press the copy option on the printer control panel. Let me know if it makes a good copy or not.

If the copy also comes out faded, then the issue could be with the toner (imaging drum on the toner) or the printing mechanism or if the copy comes out good, then the issue could be with the print drivers.

Now, I know, you tried the steps listed here: http://hp.care/2tqMx8T

But, if the copy comes out bad, try the steps under Solution 4 & Solution 5 again thoroughly and check.

Thanks, I will watch for your reply!

Good luck 🙂

Hi, I'm facing exactly the same issue. Right part of the page is faded. The toner is around 70% for all 4 colors.

Anyone would suggest a solution to fix it?

Hi Dvortex,

I tried all your steps but I still have the issue - the right part of the page is faded especially for the black color. This persisted for quite some time. Do I need to buy a set of new toners when my current toners show 70% of the capacity?

Thanks,

Hello, @sunnyCA

No, the printer should work fine with 70% of the ink in it.

To assist you with this issue, I need to know whether the printer can make a "Photocopy" or not.

Place a document face down on the scanner glass and press the copy option on the printer control panel. Let me know if it makes a good copy or not.

Also, did you try to print a cleaning page as suggested here: http://hp.care/2tqMx8T ?

Let me know how that goes!

Cheers 🙂

Hi Dvortex,

Sorry, I missed your July post in response to this.

You may be right about this "right side fade" not being a known issue, but that would only be true if HP is closing their eyes to it. Any printer can have problems,  I agree, but this is very specific, and notice other people in this very thread complaining about it.

If you Google "HP laserjet m277dw right side fade" there are thousands of entries describing that exact problem.  I would  call that a known issue, or an ostrich (head in the sand) issue if it is not.

To answer you question, yes I tried the cleaning page.

I would love to see a solution to this, rather than send the printer to a landfill.

Thanks.

I had to replace toner cartridges. No matter how much I moved them around per the instructions. Slowly rocking them left side up down, etc. It got a little better but in the end had to replace it. Frustrating since they were almost brand new with little use. Authentic HP toner out of the box with the new printer. Then it started to happen with the other colors. So far three out of the four have been replaced. Not a good sign with less than 100 sheets I would say printed so far. Maybe the toner they ship with the printers isnt as good? No idea.
