HP LaserJet Pro MFD 148dw
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello.

I just set up the 148dw and it is printing all black from Word, Excel, and Print Test pages.

I have lighted the printing, which allow you to faintly see there is text there; although, I am unable to make it out.

I removed the toner cartridge and imaging drum to look at them.  With nothing obviously awry, I put them back in with no change to the printing situation.

I followed the installation wizard, setting it up for wireless printing chosing all of the default options, except that I opted out of email spam.

Hi! @MeDEAK,

Have you tried printing using a different toner cartridge?

Does the issue persist when you make a copy from the printer?

Replace low, empty or faulty toner cartridges on the printer.

Print a cleaning page

Paper, toner, and dust particles can accumulate inside the printer and can cause print quality issues such as toner specks, spatter, smears, streaks, lines, or repeating marks. Print a cleaning page to reduce particles and improve print quality.

Print a cleaning page.

  1. On the printer control panel, press the Setup button.

  2. Open Service, and then Cleaning Page.

  3. Load plain letter or A4 size paper when prompted, and then press the OK button.

A Cleaning message displays on the printer control panel. Wait until the process is complete. Discard the page that prints.

If the copy works fine, Uninstall the printer software from the root level on the PC and install the full feature printer software. (Windows Only)

In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.

Select your HP printer.

Select Uninstall.

In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.

In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”

Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.

Type printui.exe /s and click OK.

Click on Drivers tab.

Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click remove at the bottom.

Select OK.

Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties window.

Close Devices and Printers.

Update the full feature printer drivers using this link. Click Here

Once you install the printer, change the below settings to print in colour.

1.      Open Devices and Printers by clicking the Start button, and then, on the Start menu, clicking Devices and Printers.
2.      Right-click the printer that you want to use, and then click Printing Preferences.
3.      Make your choices, and then click OK.
4.      Under option Print colour select colour, then the OK button.

The printer is new out of the box.  No dust accumulated in the 10 minutes it took me to remove all of the plastic.  The issue continues with copying and with printing.

It actually never occured to me that the toner cartridge shipped with the product might be faulty.

I will try to purchase one and see if it improves.

I don't like spending hours troubleshooting brand new items. I am sorely displeased.
