HP LaserJet Pro MFP M125nw
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I've some issues with HP LaserJet Pro MFP M125nw. It is setup to work in WLAN network. The printer works fine for a few minutes after it is turned on. Afterwards, all documents hang in the printer queue with the status "printing". It happens on all PCs I own. I've tried to:

- Reinstall the drivers and HP software

- Run windows troubleshooting,

- Run HP Print and Scan doctor,

- Update firmware.

So please do not produce generic responses with above-mentioned advises.

The problem is not related to printer entering low power mode. I setup the printer to wait 60 minutes and allowed wake up from all possible sources. Printer stops responding after 3-5 minutes.

What is surprising, if I use HP smart tool to print a demo page or a report it works immediately and every time. No matter how many documents hang in the printer queue. This makes me believe that the problem is related to the drivers. I'm not sure how HP Smart prints, but I would wager that it could't print if my issue was related to networking or low power mode. If I try to print test page via windows printer properties it doesn't work and queues like all other documents. So I guess HP Smart tool accesses the printer in a different way then windows printing queue.

Edit

I noticed that documents left in the queue are printed correctly after power cycling the printer.

Edit 2:

HP Scan works as a charm as well.

Welcome to HP support community.

Did you uninstall the printer from root level?

If not follow the below steps:

Perform root level uninstallation to remove all the printer related software's.

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Remove all instances of the same.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
  • Close Devices and Printers.
  • Restart the PC again.

Download and install printer full feature driver.

I've tried it before, but I went along with the instruction once again. To no avail though. HP Smart is still able to print reports off the bat, and any other kind of print gets stuck in printer queue. I noticed that I've two position in the Devices and Printers:

- HP LaserJet Pro MFP M125-M126 PCLmS - which, at the moment I write this post, is offline according to windows. A moment ago it was behaving as I described earlier. According to HP smart the printer is online.

- HP LaserJet Pro MFP M125nw - behaves exactly as before root uninstall,

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor to check connectivity

Download HP Print and Scan Doctor.

  1. Run HPPSdr.exe from the download location on your computer.

  2. Once HP Print and Scan Doctor opens, click Start, and then select your printer.

    • If your printer in not in the list, turn it off and on, and then click Retry.

    • If there is a connection problem, follow the instructions in HP Print and Scan Doctor.

  3. If a screen prompts you to turn on printer updates, click Yes.

  4. If a screen prompts you to make your printer the default printer, click Yes.

  5. Try to print.

Assign manual IP address and that should fix the issue.

1. From the product control panel, press the Setup button.

2. Open the Reports menu.

3. Use the arrow keys to select configuration Report and then press the OK button to begin printing the report.

Setting a Static IP Address

Once you know your printer’s IP address, entering it is pretty easy. Here’s what you do:

HP Printer Static IP Address

  1. Run your Web browser.
  2. In the Web browser’s address bar, type the IP address of your printer and press Enter. Assuming you entered the right address, the HP printer control panel should appear.
  3. Click the Networking tab.
  4. Under Connections, click Wireless.
  5. Under IP Address Configuration, click Manual IP.
  6. Enter the IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway in the appropriate boxes.
  7. Click Apply.

Print and Scan doctor results below, I've polish version so I will try to translate but it may be imprecise.

1. It ended up on "step two"

2. The app tried to print a test page but it failed, the page got stuck in printer queue.

3. App ask for "internal test page"? I guess it is the same thing that HP smart does, because it worked.

4. So the Print and Scan Doctor resolution for the problem is "Software error has occurred that cannot be resolved by this tool. Remove the software by clicking "uninstall". Install the software from the CD that came along with the product or download the latest release from HP site"

As for the static IP - I'm under impression that screenshot and description you provided is not meant for M125nw. Or maybe I've different firmware. I can set static IP in networking/IPv4 Configuration.

Nonetheless after I switched to static IP, I've reruned Scan and Print Dcotor. The result is exactly the same.

This might require remote access of the computer to fix the issue.

I request you to talk to HP support.

They might have multiple options to help you with this.

  1. Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp?openCLC=true
  2. Select the country.
  3. Enter the serial of your device.
  4. Select the country from the drop-down.
  5. Click on "Show Options".
  6. Fill the web-form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.

I hope that helps.
