HP LaserJet 1200
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a LaserJet 1200 that used to work fine until I updated my computers to Windows 10. Now it doesn't work on any of them. Winidows 10 recognises it as an unassigned device, not a printer. I used to use the drivers for the PCL6 version. It has worked fine for over 10 years and according to the test page 50,000 printed pages. All prior to windows 10. Anyone else experiencing the same problem. After updating something goes to poop.

Windows updates will have an impact on the print driver, especially from one OS version to another.  A driver for one OS is rarely ever compatible with the a different OS.

The LJ1200 is an old printer.  Chances are HP does not have a driver available on thier website for you to download that is compatible with Win10. Instead you must rely on Windows Updates to install a compatible driver for your printer.  Uninstall what you currently have and remove the driver.  Do an windows update and search for your print driver and reinstall.

Maybe try and run the program in a older windows system.

  1. Right-click the program’s icon and choose Properties.

  2. When the Properties dialog box appears, click the Compatibility tab.

  3. In the Compatibility Mode section, select the Run This Program in Compatibility Mode For check box.

  4. Select the program’s desired Windows version from the drop-down list.

Compatibility mode lets you trick programs into thinking they’re running on older Windows versions.

Check your program’s box or look at its manual to see what version of Windows it expects.

  5. Click OK and then try running your program again to see whether it works better.

Microsoft’s free Virtual Windows XP program lets you run Windows XP programs in their own XP-compatible window. Although it’s the most compatible way to run older programs, the program won’t run on every PC, and it’s kind of difficult to use.

I hope this might solve your problem.
