HP Laserjet 500 colorMFP M570d
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

HP Laserjet 500 colorMFP M570dn showing status of "Out of Paper", but paper is present. Effects several different OS platforms; 7, 10, 8.1, server 2012 R2.

We have this printer installed on a print server setup on Server 2012 R2. All has worked well until today. The status from the OS side of things, regardless of OS, shows that the status of the printer is "Out of Paper". Paper has been confirmed in the printer, rollers cleaned, test pages printed, copies made, etc. When submitting a print job, the status remains the same, the job just sits in the queue and does nothing.

Any help would be appreciated.

When the software indicates out of paper it is really telling you it has lost communication with the printer. It could be a server issue.  To test since you already know the printer works would be to print a config page from the printer and using the ip address listed set the printer up on one of the computers as a local tcp/ip printer bypassing the server so the computer prints directly to the printer.  If it works, then your issue is network or server related.  Make sure the address of the printer has not changed and also make sure the spooler is working correctly on the server.

Good stuff, appreciate it.

I was able to just reinstall the drivers on the server via IP address. Reinstall on the local workstations. Boom, working.

We too have experienced this problem on more than one occasion and find the error only occurs when the paper runs out or the ink is in low mode on the printer. We are running Server 2019 and removing the printer and re adding does indeed clear this issue but does not resolve it. Has this happened for you again since and if so have any solutions been found that you are aware of ?? I have a customer who isn't happy that his printer can't run out of paper without a call to us to clear it.
