Hi dear subscribers, I've a HP Laserjet 5L. It worked when I had Windows 8. As far as I recall also with the first version of Win10.
Windows recognizes the printer. There are times that the printer works. Then if not, and there has been given a printer command, amd I close off my pc, then restart the pc, without repeating the print command, the print suddenly comes out.
But when I put my pc out again, and later start it. Want to print something, again nothing happens, no print.
I've tried to renew the printerdriver. Found it on the HP-site. But then the message comes: printer has already been installed.
Also deleting the printer in windows, then install it again => same problem.
The printer is connected to my pc with a printer cable with on one side this broad printerconnector and in the pc with the normal usb-connector (as there is no "old" printerport).
hope someone has an idea. Thanks.

HI, nice to meet you, I'm using 5L either which it's in front of me now, but i'm running Windows 7 x64 and i'm using HP 1100's driver not 5L's because it has some problem in printing.......
Try to reinstall driver all by manually not let Windows 10 does it automatically.
Add new Printer -> Old printer not in the list....? -> Add it manual ?(there're four of them but choose the bottom one) -> USB001 or 002 or 003 (see which one is on the list and being not ocupied by another printer) -> select 5L from HP's menu list
All shoule be fine.
Sorry for some of ? mark for i'm not using Windows 10 and is using non-English Windows edition.
Hope you can figure it out for some what.

Hi East2100, thank you for your help so far. I've tried to apply what you suggested. As I had (due to previous attempts to solve this) several copies of the printer ( as: HP laserjet 5L (copy1)), I first deleted those. Then tried your suggestion. Only USB001 was visible, which was connected to usb001. So I deleted that one too, and than manually added again the printer. Did a test print. that went fine, it came out. But after that tried to print some pages of a pdf-file, and first no respons at all. Then after closing of my pc and restart it, the printer worked for this file. Went along to the pdf-file which I originally intended to print (60 pages), only 13 came out, and than it stopped again. Tried various things, amongst a repeat of the print job, nothing worked. PC off again, and now 3 days later, I started my pc and immediately (so without me giving a new print command) the pages came out which I wanted to print with the last print command ................ ?? I just don't understand it.
This happened before also a few times (first paper came out, then not, than trying to add a new printer, then it worked for 1 or 2 print jobs, and than I couldn't print again).
since now and than paper / prints come out, I would say pc / windows and printer communicate, but then something just gets wrong.
