All I am trying to tell you is if the motor was bad then the scanner would not initialize and you would get a scanner error on bootup. I have replaced a number of those motors over the years but always when they cause the scanner to not initialize. Never had one where the scanner would initialize and the motor was still bad.

RESOLVED / FIXED...

After replacing the step motor in the scanner assembly I can copy document just fine.  Printout is as expected.

This is a strange one.  Maybe someone with more electronic knowledge then I can explain it?

Thanks for all your suggestions.

Do you have a step by step process or video on how to change the stepping motor? I purchaesd a new stepping motor but I don't know where the old stepping motor is on my printer?

Hi , lift adf cover to expose the flatbed glass, at the back you will see 2 clips that will remove the ADF connector cable, remove the ADF, using a T10 remove all the screws on the flatbed, the display cover just pulls off, remove 1 screw on the panel, slide the panel to remove, remove the flatbed cover to expose the scanner assy, the motor will now be exposed, 2 screws and 1 plug to remove it. ensure you clean the glass before you put it all together again, the scanner uses the white strip on the glass to find it's home.
