HP Laserjet M553dn
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Okay so we've been dealing with an issue on our new HP Laserjet M553 where it jams everytime we try printing Avery Name Badge labels (Avery 8395). After spending two hours chatting with HP support I was told the printer doesn't support Avery. When I asked why he just told me to try a different brand.

So here I'm hoping to find the answer to a few questions I have.

Does this HP printer really not support Avery labels? That seems foolish as they are the largest brand/maker of labels.

If this printer does not support Avery labels, in particular the 8395 name badge, why? Is there a technical reason?

If this Avery not supported business is just nonsense then how do I go about resolving this issue of jamming? I've tried changing the paper type to heavy and evelope, neither resolved the issue. I've checked the path. I've checked the pickup motors, I've actually checked every motor and sensor, in the troubleshooting menu. I've checked the rollers. I have no idea why this printer hates these labels. I've tried both the manual feed and the paper tray, it jams from both and in the same place, in the fuser about 1/3rd of the page in, just about right after one row of labels.

Okay guys. so any pointers? I'm at my wits end.

Assuming you have configured in your printer setting and on your computer in print driver that you are printing on labels if you place a plain paper in a manual feeder and try to print labels is plain paper jammed?

What numerical error message you get when you print on Avery is should be something like 13.xx.xx

The error code is 13.B9.A6. I'll reply back in a couple minutes after testing the plain paper on the label settings. I know plain works just fine other plain settings, unsure atm about label settings.

*edit Plain works just fine under Label settings.

Sorry for jumping in. Please note: Laser printers generate MORE heat than Inkjet printers. They NEED special label papers to be able to print properly otherwise, labels may stuck on rollers after few sheets.

Regards.

Yep, yep. I understand that. These, however, are "optimized" for laser printers and work in other laser printers including the one we had recently replaced (Dell 5130).
