Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a HP Laserjet P3005n and I want to use it by USB cable connected to my laptop. I have downloaded the Dot4x64.msi installation file but this doesn't seem to do anything. I am expecting that connecting my printer by USB cable to my laptop would result in creating a DOT4-port. But for some reason this printer doesn't work that way.

I already tried connecting another laptop to the printer but same thing. Also checked the printmanagement.msc environment and uninstalled every HP drivers.

When I check the device manager I can see a generic USB-hub appearing but nothing further happens.

Anyone have any pointers to the solution?

The download file doesn't install any DOT4-port.

But I have given up for now...I have bought a Wifi powerline adapter and connected the printer with an cable. Then printing by TCP/IP. Works fine now.

Still puzzled why I can't get USB / Dot4 working.

I can supply the no longer listed HP Universal Print Driver USB version. PM me if you would like it and I can send you a dropbox link.

@Valsimot: i have installed the driver package but the printer port or printer itself won't install. I see that the generic USB-hub is coming active in the device manager but nothing further.

Also I cannot add the printer myself because I don't think any port is showing up.

Any ideas?

Try this way to see if it works.

Add printer manually -> my printer not on the list -> add it myself (bottom one of the four) -> select Dot4_001 as the connected port -> find the driver on the HP list

Hope it helps.

Hello East2100,

I have no Dot4_001 port. I think that is the problem.

HP Recommended

Find it and download from HP.
