Lasjer m404n
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I'm currently having an issue with the HP Laserjet m404n printer.

There's no pattern on what causes this but every so often, instead of printing the job that was sent to it, it prints what I assume is job instructions. I've contacted HP support and all their recommended fixes did not solve the problem. HP issued a replacement in hopes that would fix the issue but it did not. I'm reaching out in to see if someone else has experienced this issue.

Things we tried with HP support.

  1. Upgraded Firmware to latest available
  2. Tried multiple drivers including the (HP Universal Printing PS).
  3. Factory Resetting the printer

One thing to note is I purchased two of these printers from two different vendors (Newegg & CDW).

They are both being used through USB and they both have the same issue.

See below for a screenshot of the printout that is sent.

Any help is appreciated.

What program are you printing from? To guess wildly it looks like you have some sort of macro programmed into the job you are printing or you are printing from some type of job accounting program like Papercut.

Hello,

We've noticed this happen when printing from Excel, Adobe Acrobat , Microsoft Word, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Outlook. Is there anything in the drivers I can check?

Thank you.
