Hi guys,
Hope you guys can try and help me. I have had HP and Microsoft work remotely on my pc and another pc trying to get a printer to work properly. To no avail, the printer does not want to work like it should. I had a friend get on remotely and he installed the basic driver and it works 100% on my pc now.
We are trying to install the same HP Color laserjet M478-479 MFP on two other computers that is running Windows 10, all updates have run smoothly, only 1 update was removed (KB4524147), but still no luck, both the computers are running Office 365 Personal, I have tried the same printer on my pc (Win 10, Office 2010) and it works like a charm. Now my only conclusion is that the office package is somehow causing this printer to not work. Does it make sense.....no.
Can someone please try and assist with my issue, I will try anything now seeing that HP and Microsoft could not help remotely. I will answer all the questions you might have for me.

What drivers have you tried and what method are you connecting with, network or USB? I would manually install and use the HP Universal Print Driver V6.8.

Hi repairatrooper, I used the "driver only" package, basic driver I presume. Trying to connect via ethernet, I gave the printer a static ip address also.
I tried the installation with the HP easy start also and directly plugged into pc via usb, no luck at all. Yesterday afternoon just before I went home, the printer even got stuck when trying to do a demo page, in the printer que it was like it was "buffering", not printing at all, eventually I canceled the print after 45 seconds of "buffering". Strange hey, on one hand it looks like the printer is faulty, on the other hand it looks like a software problem.
To be honest, I give up on this thing lol

Update on the printer issue....
Both printers are working fine now....touch wood....
Office 1 - I used the UPD for the setup, one printer on the network, 3 desktops are connected to it. 2 x desktops are running Win 7 Pro, 1 desktop running Win 10 Pro. The Win 7 desktops run perfectly with the full software for this printer, did not have to change the actual print driver to the UPD driver at all. The Win 10 desktop however I had to change the printer driver in conjunction with the full software package on the printer to the UPD driver. Scan to email via web interface does NOT work, it keeps on saying "server not found" when entering the details of our smtp server. But they can use the software to scan.
Office 2 - Desktop running Win 10 Pro, also had to change the printer driver to the UPD in conjunction with the full package. However, this printer via the web interface works 100%. Enter the exact same details of our smtp server and it works like a charm. The user can either use the scan to email feature or the software.
Weird hey, but all in all so far, looks like everything is working like a charm.
Thank you for the help reapairatrooper, it seems like your answer....the only answer......worked perfectly. Just weird that the full package of the software does not work on the Win 10 desktops but the UPD does, quite strange to me.
Thanks again
Allen
P.S: I will accept your answer as the correct answer.....KUDOS brother!!!!!!!
