Basically the driver install software keeps failing with "Error 3: Failed to copy port monitor files" on Windows 7. After reading a few posts here I tried to actually uninstall the driver software to make sure it was not an issue which also failed with the same message. This time though it was a bit more indicative of the error.
It seems the software it is trying to install files under \\program files\hp\xxx which does not exist on a french version of windows. The "program files" directory is actually named "programmes" on a french install.
Anyone has any idea how to solve this issue?
Thanks in advance!

Is this a USB install or network? If network, forget about the whole driver install package. Download the HP Universal Print Driver 6.9 and manually install the printer. On your PC, go to control panel>devices and printers> add new printer. Immediately click on "the device I want is not found" and then when prompted say you want to install a printer manually. Create a Standard TCP/IP port using the network address of the printer, click have driver and point the search to the folder where you downloaded the UPD driver and follow the install steps.

It is a network printer and since the driver install package did not work I ended up going with the "Add network printer" which seems to install the driver 6.1.7 from Microsoft update. The printer does work with it but for some reason it will wait ages (5 seconds in user's terms) between print jobs. The weird bit is printing from another PC where the driver software install worked with same batch of reports works fine without delay. I will try and use the Universal 6.9 driver and see if that fixes it.
Thanks for taking the time to answer quickly, definitely appreciated.

Unfortunately, the long delay between printing each job (a batch of 4 reports get printed every 15-20 mins by the users) is still present with the Universal Driver 6.9. This is obviously driving me nuts (or nuttier maybe) as printing from other workstations where the M607 driver was installed works fine without the delay. Same batch of 4 reports from same internal application. Same network printer.
Any other suggestion are welcomed.
Thanks again obviously.
