HP LaserJet MFP M880
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Multiple times I've attempted to upload the export .csv contact file from one HP printer to another. It will upload only name of user, fax number, email but NEVER network folder path details (which is crucial).

We have 165 printers in our fleet and we are making our move to HP. So far we have 10 HPs ranging from (m477, PW785, M775, and M880). Manually entering each department user is cumbersome. Importing and export feature doesn't work. I've also used Web JetAdmin as HP support suggested but it fails. Firmware is all current on our HPs.

What am I missing? Why can't network folder path details (as shown in Address Book or Contact) be exported to another HP printer?

Thank you for any and all help!

You list a wide range of products from different HP families. You will have little to no success transfering between a Pro series and an Enterprise series. If you are managing this many devices and need that type of flexibility, you need to invest in a product such as HP Access Control Enterprise, Papercut or PrintEvolve.

Thank you for your reply. I do not think you understand what Papercut and PrintEvolve offer with their 3rd party embedded programming. They cannot fix an HP issue. If they did they would have to create an app that can be embedded in the printer itself. Not all HP printers are OX'd compatible (which is a requirement for even embedded software to work).

What we need is an offline template that can be used to upload to any HP printer sharing the same funcitions or a HP fix.

A simple fix would be that HP would look into the obvious error in firmware. Granted each firmware will be different but certain features should remain constant, such as address book/contacts or network settings (including scan). When they cannot be interchangeable even within the newer fleet of printers, why make a move to update printers to HP? Contact files can be shared between other models such as Kyocera. I represent a government agency that has 165 printers and we are moving to HP a move that will come at a $270,000 price tag. We cannot be the only agency facing this issue.

What other suggestions do you have?

Thank you!

I will not delve into what you think is my understanding of an industry I have worked in for over 20 years. They allow companies to leverage their existing AD structure to automatically direct files when a user authenticates at the machine. As many government departments do this, perhaps you could reach out to either your HP reps or other government agencies to find out how they deal with this. A large portion of what HP configures is a balance between convenience and security and the move from their older firmware to FS 2, FS3 and FS4 have all come with increases in security and changes to the way the address books are configured. You may want to have a look at HP WebJet Admin as that may al;low you to create templates you can push out to the machines.

We have attempted all that you have suggested before reaching out in this forum. HP support has closed 3 tickets regarding our issue so HP reps haven't helped. Government agencies are less organized as you may believe and do not share intraoffice information.

Is there anyone else who would like to offer a substantive suggestion? I'm sorry but our original issue is not resolved.
