LaserJet Pro MFP M277
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am a Windows Insider, Build 17704.rs prerelease 18063-1611.  After installing this version, my printer no longer worked.  After deinstalling and trying to install again, it errored out before getting to the question about setting it up with wifi.

I am currently using the Windows 10 drivers, but do not have any of the All-In-1 features.

Thank you for joining HP Forums.

This is a great place to get support, find answers to your technical queries.

I understand that you are facing an issue in installing the drivers.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Do you see any error while installing the drivers?

I recommend you delete the driver at the root level and retry, follow the steps below:

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose `Delete' or `Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between "printui.exe" and "/s")

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

Then, Click on this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-color-laserjet-pro-mfp-m277-series/70... to download and install the drivers.

Keep me posted, how it goes!

The results are the same: The install program errored out at the same spot.  Now I have also lost my HP fax driver for the printer.  They can see the printer has scan capabilities and Microsoft has a Windows 10 app for that.

I don't know if you read the front part of the memo: I am running a very early beta of Windows 10.  It looks like most HP printer drivers and printer applications outside of Windows itself will no longer work.  A person, with and OfficeJet 4650, reported that it will also not work.  I suggest your developers get in touch with Microsoft developers and find out what you have to do to make it work, unless all printers in the future must be controlled by Microsoft!

The other problem now, is when I tried the first idea and then set up again using the Microsoft drivers, it no longer knows that is a automatic duplex printer!

Any ideas there?

Thank you for replying with this detailed response 😉

I appreciate your time and efforts,

Is it printing now? If yes, then follow the instructions below:

Enter Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
Right click the printer icon, then click Printer Properties.
Click the Device Settings tab.
Set the Automatic Two-Sided Duplex Accessory as installed and click OK to save the change.

Keep me posted. 🙂

First of all, you have to remember I am using a more advanced version of Windows 10.  The Control Panel no longer exists, so you have to do the following:

1) Windows Settings

2) Devices

3) Printers and Scanners

4) The printer

5) Manage

6) Printer Properties

7) Advance

😎 Device Settings

9) Deplex Unit set to Installed

10) Apply

11) Go back to Printing Preferences

12) Set to Print on Both Sides - Yes - flip over or flip up

I now remember doing this before.

A little more complex than you instructions.

I accepted this as a solution, but with unhappiness.  I have lost a lot of fuctionality with my printer.

This is my 2nd M277, after the first one went belly up after 2 years and HP made me an offer I could not refuse.

What you are telling me is that HP will no longer have software suites for it's printers and depend on Microsoft software, with some HP utilities, to work with it's printers.  Expensive to support all that printer functionality.
