Solved: HP laserJet 700 M712dn rumbling noise - HP Support Community

I have an M712dn thats making a loud rumbling noise. The Fuser drive gears also seem to be getting eaten up and leaves residue inside the printer. I replaced both the fuser drive gear assembly and fuser assembly, but still have the same issue. Any ideas as to what else may be causing this issue?

The problem with that is that gear assemblies generally ship without grease, and HP does not document what is the proper grease to be used on the gears.

@blul_1528 can you let us know what is the correct grease?

Hi,

You have done the correct steps. Another thing you can try is to check the replacement Fuser drive gear assembly and make sure it has lubrication. Be sure your replacement Fuser Drive Assembly does not have excessive grease on large white gear be sure there is NO grease on the black surfaces/black gears.

Fuser drive assembly part number RM1-2963-040CN, fuser 110v part number CF235-67921

Funny you post this yesterday because just yesterday I replaced the Fuser drive assembly again and used the $300+ high concentrated grease the canon guys use. Now the printer print fine without the noise and grinding gear teeth.

Was there a part number on that Canon Grease?

What I have didn't cost that much, but it was a small vial.

@davidzuts this is a new part number to me, I have spent hours on and off looking for a the part number for the grease for printer gears.

No I have not and according to the HP parts catalog the part is obsolete. A google search shows many vendors wanting a lot for the item. Found one that is reasonable so I will order just to try it out.
