I have an HPLaserJet Pro m501.  It will skip entire pages in batch - but it's not technically skipping them, it will just put out a blank page for that page.  So, it's not printing.  This happens every few pages within large batches queued up to print.

Hi @fenix1234,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP LaserJet Pro M501 is producing blank pages intermittently when printing large batches. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Check toner levels and cartridge condition
– Low or uneven toner can cause blank pages in the middle of a job.
– Remove the toner cartridge, gently shake it side to side, then reinstall.

Inspect the imaging drum or cartridge
– Some M501 models have separate toner and drum units.
– Make sure the drum is clean and not scratched or worn, as this can create blank pages.

Print a test page
– From the printer menu, print a Configuration/Test page.
– If the test page prints correctly, the issue may be with the computer driver or file being printed.

Check print job settings
– Ensure duplex/2-sided printing settings match the paper type.
– Select plain paper and standard quality to see if the blank pages still appear.

Update or reinstall printer driver
– Outdated or corrupted drivers can cause intermittent blank pages.
– Download the latest full-feature HP driver for M501 from the HP website and reinstall.

Avoid large batches temporarily
– Break large jobs into smaller batches to see if the problem persists.
– This helps determine if memory or spooling issues are contributing.

Check for file-specific issues
– Sometimes blank pages appear because the source file has invisible content or page breaks.
– Open the document and make sure there are no blank pages in the digital file.

Printer firmware update
– Use HP Smart or the printer Embedded Web Server to check for firmware updates.
– Firmware updates often fix intermittent printing issues in large jobs.

Reset the printer to factory defaults (optional)
– If the problem persists, restore factory defaults via the menu: Setup → Service → Restore Factory Defaults.

I hope this helps.
