Thank you for responding,
This is the Riddle_Decipher, again!
It's great to have you back 😉
I appreciate the details, also to know if the printer doesn't have any hardware issues, please check if the copier works slow and are you printing the test page using the MacOS or is it from the printer?
I recommend you update the printer firmware using the steps on this link: Click here.
If the above doesn't work, you may want to perform a hard reset:
Resetting the printer can resolve slow printing issues.
-
Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
-
Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
-
With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
-
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
-
Wait at least 60 seconds.
-
Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
NOTE:
HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.
-
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
-
Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
-
Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.
Try to print. If the issue persists, continue to the next step.
If the printing continues to be slow while using the copier and the test page from the printer, this could be a hardware issue: Click here for more steps.

Thank you for posting on HP Forums,
Riddle_Decipher, is at your service (Like a Genie, however, without magic powers) 😉
As I understand the HP device isn't printing on your mac device,
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:
- Does it print as a stand alone printer?
- Did the test page print? And did you try printing from other applications? which one are you using?
- Have you attempted to install the latest drivers from the apple software?
While you respond to that, here's what you need to do:
Install all available MacOS related updates on the device and then try the below steps:
-
Make sure your Mac is connected to the Internet.
-
In the Printers list, click your HP printer, and then click the Minus button
to delete it.
-
Click the Add button
.
-
Find and select the name of your printer from the Printer list, and then click Add to add your printer. Do not select an HP Fax driver.
NOTE:
If your printer does not display in the list, make sure the printer is connected, turned on, has power, and is ready to print.
Figure : Example of the printer selection list
-
Click Print Using or Use.
-
Select AirPrint.
Figure : Menu showing AirPrint selected
Your new printer queue displays in the Printers list in an Idle status
.
Figure : Example of a newly added printer in the Printers & Scanners list
-
Try printing again.
-
If the printer prints, you can stop troubleshooting.
-
If the printer remains offline or displays an error, continue to the next step.

Thank you for responding,
Although, I'm glad it's worked out for you!
I think we can both agree at this point that there are other people within the HP Forums community or otherwise, who could benefit from our conversation and if you don't mind, clicking on accept as solution on this post (as I have added the steps that have resolved your concern, as well) it would be awesome.
About the fax printer, I suggest you simply go through the user guide if you ever need the fax printer in the future.
That said, If you have any other concerns or queries, do not hesitate to ask as we'll be glad to help,
And have a good day ahead.
Stay blessed!
