HP 8710
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I can print Web pages from the internet, but I cannot print Word documents nor PDFs on my HP 8710 Printer.  I have tried uninstalling the driver and reinstalling but it still doesn't work. The Print and Scan Dr. when I run it says the printer is fine and prints a test page successfully.  But I cannot print a test page when I go into the Printer Properties.

Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂

As I understand, you're unable to print to from Word and pdf,

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

What is the error message while trying to print from Word and pdf?

When was the last time it worked fine?

Have you tried printing from different applications?

Let's try these steps to resolve the issue:

Root level uninstall and reinstall printer drivers:

  • Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP OfficeJet printer entries and uninstall them.
  • Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
  • Then press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" and press enter.
  • Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
  • Again, go to run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

To reinstall, click here

Disable UAC:

  • Go to Start Menu -> Control Panel -> User Accounts and Family Safety -> User Account.
  • Click on User Account Control settings link.

  • Slide the slider bar to the lowest value with description Never notify.

  • Click OK to make the change effective.

  • Restart the computer to turn off User Access Control.

Let me know how this goes,

Cheers!
