Hello Valsimot,

I’m afraid you’re right. However, I don’t think I will be able to do that. Finding the door switch is not that hard, but what do you mean by “the part on the front door that operates the switch”? Do you mean the Tray 1 paper detection sensor? And when I have found both: What should I “check” or how should I “check” the switch and the sensor?

Hello Valsimot,

I’ve tried to take your advice, but now it’s:

13.20.00 JAM INSIDE TOP COVER Remove Print Cartridge

Of course, removing the Print Cartridge hasn’t helped or it can’t really be because of that. What also worries me is that the heating doesn’t start when I switch the printer on, but only a silent self-test.

You have access to the service manual. check in the service manual for that error code, and check sensors underneath the toner cartridge and exit sensor on the fuser, also check when you remove tray there might be the green lever that you can pull to access duplex. Use service manual to locate all sensors and check the one by one is there a piece of paper blocking them.

If this printer has run manual sensor test, look in service manual how it's performed.

Hello Valsimot,

I have been hesitant for a long time to try it again, because I am a little overwhelmed by your proposed solution, although I suspect that your proposal is correct.

I took the printer apart again, but I can’t see what you mean by “exit sensor”, nor can I find the “green lever” you were talking about. I once enclosed three photos of my removed printer, so you can see how far I disassembled it.

I studied the service manual extensively, but it doesn’t help me to locate the parts you mentioned. Could you help me with that?

You have disassembled it way too much. One sensor on the fuser and 2 sensors are under the toner cartridge.

You will need to assemble it back, in this condition you can't do much.

Hello Valsimot,

Thank you very much for your (quick) feedback.

It’s reassuring that I don’t have to take any more apart. Thanks to your description I might have more luck this time to find the different sensors. I will definitely give feedback.

Hello Valsimot,

Before I start to reassemble the printer:

Is that the sensor on the fuser?

And that the two sensors under the toner cartridge?

The first one was pretty dirty, so that my hope lies in this.

The first pic is grounding contact and the black grease is for better contact. 2nd pic is a toner cartridge chip that is used for storing toner information.

Download service manual and check sensors and locations everything is explained with pictures.

I have downloaded the service manual eight years ago and like I said:

I know, there are many (helpful) pictures, but of all things the sensors you’re talking about aren’t on the pictures. There is only one schematic picture “Sensors and switches”, which (at least) doesn’t help me:0Service Manual.jpg
