Hi @Entember,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I understand you are experiencing issues with faded prints on your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M281fdw, I would request you to please follow the steps:

Paper & Settings

  • Use paper designed for laser printers.
  • Load correctly (print side up).
  • Match paper type/size in print settings.

Toner Cartridges

  • Check toner levels; replace if low.
  • Remove and reseat cartridges properly.
  • Inspect memory chip and imaging drum for damage (don’t touch the drum surface).

Calibrate Colors

  • Print a diagnostics page from the control panel.
  • If colors are misaligned, run the Calibrate function.
  • Run Cleaning Page
  • On the printer menu: Setup → Service → Cleaning Page.
  • Load plain paper and follow prompts to clean toner residue.

Hope this helps, Please revert if the issue persists.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I don't know if it's noticeable what I'm referring to. It'd the streak at the top of the pages. There most visible at the top left of each page.

I had to take out the toner cartridges and give them a little tap and re insert them. At first only blue printed after doing this but then I did it again and now the problem is fixed. Thank you!
