Printing random horizontal lines appears to be a known issue.  Several people have posted about it and the topics have been marked as solved but I don't see any solution to this.

Has anyone found a solve with this?  My printer is about 3 years old but it's been doing these lines randomly for months.  I've been doing forced recalibrations that does resolve it for a few pages.  Sometimes it will do say 20 pages before redoing the lines again.

While this is a color printer, I only am runnging the black cartridge and the color ones have been emptly for a year or more.

I really think a printer should provide good printing for more than 3 years and I really don't want to get a another printer but it's about time to do that if I can't get this issue resolved.

Without any help I DID solve this (amazed me even).  This is a color printer BUT I've been using ONLY black for a long time (more than a year I'm sure, probably 2).  The printer was randomly throwing lines all over the printed page to the point of making the page unreadable.  Forcing a calibration would result in 2 dark lines vertically and might print ok for a few pages and then back to the random horizonal lines.

The solution was I went ahead and replaced ALL of the color cartirdges and now the print out is 100% good.  So I guess one of the old color cartiridges went bad (or more) even though it wasn't being used in printing.  Glad I finally got good printing back!
