I went to the driver downloads but did note see any drivers or dowloads.

I am starting to think that because I am using an apple/mac that it is not the same as using windows as far as drivers?

I saw where I was suppose to go:

apple incon

printers and scanners

BUT MY printer does not show in the list of available printers?

I was trying to download drivers but didn't see where I could download the drivers, even though I was where the driver downloads are. All I got was an option for, "software".

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I suggest you install the printer via USB and install the driver using Apple Software Update

  1. Click the Apple menu, then click System Preferences.

  2. Depending on your operating system version, click Print & Fax, Print & Scan, or Printers & Scanners.

Example of the Printers & Scanners window

  3. Check if the name of your printer displays in the Printers list. Do one of the following steps, depending on if the printer is listed or not.

    • If your printer is listed, remove and re-add the printer to confirm communication and to make sure the correct driver is used. Click the name of your printer, then click the minus sign  to delete the printer. Once the printer is removed, click the plus sign , click Add Printer or Scanner, click the name of your printer, then continue to the next step.

    • If your printer is not listed, click the plus sign, click Add Printer or Scanner, click the name of your printer, then continue to the next step.

    • If your printer is not listed in the Add Printer or Scanner window, make sure the printer is connected to the Mac with a USB cable,

  4. Click the Use or Print Using menu, then select the name of your printer.

NOTE:  Selecting a Generic driver option from the Use menu can result in limited printer functionality.

Select the name of your printer in the Use menu

  5. Click Add to add the printer to the list.

    • If you are prompted to install software, click Download and Install to complete the installation.

A warm welcome to HP forums! This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries.

I understand you need support and I'll be glad to help you out. However, for an accurate solution, I would need more details:

Are you using HP Laserjet 1022, HP Laserjet 1022n or HP Laserjet 1022nw?

How is the printer connected, USB or Wireless?

Let me know!

I just have the plain 1022 - there are no letters after the 1022 on the front of the printer. If it's suppose to be listed elsewhere then I don't know about it all I can see is that on the front it says LASERJET 1022 and nothing else.

I HAVE a usb cable but would prefer wireless connection if possible

It looks like you were interacting with @senan6806, but he is out for the day. I'm KrazyToad & I'm at your service.

The HP LaserJet 1022 Printer does not have wireless capability and can only be used through USB.

The HP LaserJet 1022N and HP LaserJet 1022NW Printer comes with Wireless but the HP LaserJet 1022 Printer does not

Hope this helps

Thank you and have a great day 😊
