I am running into a white screen of death on start up of my Laser Jet M252DW. I have tried a hard reset (doesn't work). I have been able to do a firmware update that brought the printer back to life for one print job (now it's white screening again). How can I use my printer again?

Hi @FlyGuyJ,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand that your HP LaserJet M252DW is experiencing a white screen on startup. Performing a factory reset might help resolve the issue. Here's how you can do it:

Turn Off the Printer: First, make sure your printer is turned off.

Access the Printer’s Service Menu:

  • Power on the printer by pressing the 'Power' button while simultaneously pressing and holding the 'Cancel' button.
  • Continue to hold until the menu appears on the LED display.

Navigate to the Reset Option:

  • Scroll down to find the "Service" menu.
  • Using your printer's navigation buttons, scroll to "Restore Defaults" and select it.

Confirm the Reset: Confirm if prompted. This will restore the printer to its factory settings, which might resolve the issue you are experiencing.

Reboot the Printer: Once the printer is reset, turn it off and on again to see if the issue persists.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

Hey Jerry_57

There is only a power button on my M252DW. I have no physical cancel button to hold while the printer is powering on. There is nothing booting on the screen for me to press either. I press the power button and immediately have a white screen. What other solutions might there be?

Thanks

Hi @FlyGuyJ,

I am sorry for the ongoing issue.

Kindly refer to the steps below:

Restore the factory-set defaults. Restoring the factory-set defaults returns all of the product and network settings to the factory defaults. It will not reset the page count, tray size, or language. To restore the product to the factory-default settings, follow these steps. CAUTION: Restoring the factory-set defaults returns all of the settings to the factory defaults, and it also deletes any pages that are stored in the memory.

 1. 2-line control panels: On the product control panel, press the OK button. Touchscreen control panels: From the Home screen on the product control panel, touch the Setup button.

2. Open the Service menu.

3. Select the Restore Defaults option, and then press or touch the OK button. The product automatically restarts.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
