By dual-head do you mean automatic Duplex?
The M426fdw does support automatic duplex scanning according to the specs:
http://www8.hp.com/h20195/v2/GetDocument.aspx?docname=c04742158
See page 57 of the User Guide for steps on how to automatically duplex from the control panel for Copy:

Push scanning (to email or network folder) is a little more complicated but generally the same process as copying. I beleive the feature will be called "Two Sided" from the control panel. You should see it under the scanning options that you configured on the control panel when it is time to scan.
Pull scanning (starts on an application from an OS) depends entirely on the applications that are installed on the OS. Since you are on Linux in this scenario you might be out of luck for that feature. You may have to experiment with other photo or image manipulation software to see what features they provide. Many image applications have an "import" feature that allows them to talk to scanners, but that often requires drivers and more specifically drivers that support the feature you are looking for to enable that functionality. In those cases you may need to import the scan jobs as single page documents, then use a PDF writer to merge them into a new format like PDF or TIFF.
