I have a paper jam of a 4x6 index card. It says the jam is in tray 1, but I can't find it. I want to remove the entire cartridge drawer (not just the individual cartridges) to look for it. How do I do this?

Thanks!

Removing the toner cartridge drawer will not help you, because the paper path of media doesn't have anything to do with toner drawer. When you remove toner drawer you will see only grey transfer belt, nothing else.

Remove the lower paper tray, check underneath the printer and open back cover to examine for jammed paper.

Many thanks, Vasimot! HP said that I could clear a paper jam in Tray 1 by looking behind the cartridges, but as you said, I saw there was nothing interesting there after removing the cartridges.

I actually found the index card in the green duplex tray (above tray 2).  I suppose, since I fed the card in sideways, it just fell down into the duplex tray. Hence the disappearance. Feeding it in lengthwise worked fine.
