How do I reset my printer to original factory settings?  I found a post which indicated I need to turn off the computer and hold the (GO) button.  Is the (GO) button the power button?

@Buddy9831,

Good Day.  A warm welcome to the HP community. I reviewed the case regarding information on how to restore the printer to factory defaults. Superb description and terrific observations made before posting. Kudos to you for that..:) It will be a delight to assist you here.

To assist you with accurate information I would require more information regarding this:

  • Is the printer not working correctly?
  • Do you need to hard reset the printer or restore it to factory defaults?

For now, try these steps:

  • Please perform a hard reset on the printer from this link https://hp.care/2M1AeYv  and follow instructions from the section “Step 2: Reset the printer”
  • Then restore factory defaults on the printer from this user guide link: https://hp.care/2JYzsLp  refer to page 76 for steps on how to do it.
  • This should fix the issue. If it continues, then I will send a private message on how to perform an NVRAM reset or Super NVRAM reset on the printer that restores it to complete factory settings.
  • Please check your Forum private message box for instructions from me on how to perform the reset.

Perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. Good luck to you. I will keep a watch for your response.  Please note that I am not overloading you with steps but instead, giving you more information to work with.

We are as eager as you are to get the issue fixed. I request you to perform all these steps till the issue is fixed.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as Accepted Solution as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.

Take care and have a blessed week ahead. 🙂

I need instructions for Full Reset Laserjet m203dw.  Why is this so secretive?  I have multiple users with power surge that changed IP to inaccessible on network.

@timechild, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

  • The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.
  • I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
  • In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Forums profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/notes/privatenotespage

Let me know how this goes.

I have the same issue. The device was set to manual IP, our whole IP range changed, so now I can't get in to change it.
