LaserJet Pro P1606dn
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I have a LaserJet Pro P1606dn printer that I was moving from one network to another.  I accessed the EWS and changed the IP address and gateway to the required address and gateway for the new network.  I then moved the printer to the new network but couldn't access it.  I was also unable to ping it.  Eventually I printer the configuration sheet and found that the IP address had been changed as requested, but the gateway was still the old gateway.  I was unable to access the EWS to correct the gateway.  When I ran out of ideas, I decided to reset the printer to defaults.  Now all the IP address info is set to "0.0.0.0" (address, gateway, and mask) and the printer is set for manual IP configuration.

I do have the printer installed on 1 workstation using a USB connection and can print from there.  But I can't find a way to get into it to correct the IP address info.  Even the "HP Print and Scan Doctor" is worthless.

I would appreciate any help/ideas.

Hi,

An 0.0.0.0 means the printer does not have any connection link to the network.

Ensure the ethernet cable is plugged to both ends, the ethernet port on the back of the printer should list/blink with green and orange lights to identify a link.

Also, try connecting the cable to another port of your router and check, as well try another ethernet cable and check if you may have any link then.

Hi Shlomi,

I want to thank you for your response.  I had checked the network connection previously, but since my efforts had failed I wanted to try any suggestions offered so I checked again.  I confirmed there was a good connection with link and activity lights on the printer and switch.  I re-printed the config sheet and found a couple changes from the last print.

Since the reset to default, the "Status" had been showing as "Initializing" - it is now showing as "Connected".

The "Configure By" has changed from "Manual" to "DHCP".

The IP "IPv4 Address" has changed to a valid IP for my new network.

The "Subnet Mask" has changed to the valid mask for my new network.

The "Default Gatesay" has changed to the valid gateway for my new network.

The "DHCP Server" has changed to the address for my DHCP server.

The "IPv6 Local Address" now has an address.

The only thing I can think of is that the "Sleep After" was set to 5 minutes and this was insufficient time to allow the "reset to default" process to complete and re-initialize the printer.  My work on this issue .last night may have forced the printer to stay active long enough for the initialization to complete.  I'm not sure, I'm grasping at anything that might explain this anomaly.

Whatever it was, I want to thank you for your input.
