The printer has an IP address when you assign the printer an IP address in your router

AND / OR

The printer is connected to your network through standard wireless.

----------------- Review --------------------

This printer model requires a connection to your network on the 2.4GHz frequency.

The printer cannot connect to or make use of 5GHz.

-- Shut off your VPN --

Most troubleshooting and connections are more difficult or impossible with VPN enabled.

Wi-Fi Direct is a limited form of Wireless that uses the printer's own wireless radio to connect to your supported Wireless capable device (computer, tablet, phone).

Wi-Fi Direct cannot connect your printer to the Internet (Web Services)

Wi-Fi is explained in your printer's user guide

=======================

Offline Condition

Although the printer appears to be switched on, it does not communicate with other devices on your network.

What you do to correct the issue depends on the underlying cause.

Microsoft - Troubleshooting offline printer problems in Windows

Consider >> Restart All

Restart Everything, including the router that controls your network

-- Note --

If your printer is assigned a manual / static IP address it is better able to find its way back onto the network.

Web Services

Start here

HP printers - Managing the printer internet connection (Web Services)

Web Services is used to connect the printer to the Internet.

Web Services recognizes the printer and hands it to whatever service is "next".

For example, Web Services might be used to connect your printer to ePrint, Instant Ink, HP+, Print Anywhere, or certain Cloud services.

Troubleshooting Web Services

HP printers - Cannot connect to Web Services

Next,

⇶   IPv4 Setup -- Embedded Web Server -- EWS --

EWS > HP Document / How-to (Basic format)

Use the HP printer Embedded Web Server (EWS)

NOTE:  Find printer IP address

Section Open the EWS over a local network orientation

Classic EWS – Ink-Jet printers

Ethernet

Open your Browser >

Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Note → If the browser security will not let you open EWS, try a different browser.

Tab Network > Wired (802.3) > IPv4 Configuration

-- Wireless --

Open your Browser >

Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Note → If the browser security will not let you open EWS, try a different browser.

Tab Network > Wireless (802.11) > IPv4 Configuration

As Available:

Tab Network > Wireless (802.11) > Advanced

Section Advanced

Network Interface on / off, Network SSID name, Security Settings, Passphrase / Password

Select and connect to the correct SSID / network name for the bandwidth you are using.

Notes

  • If your browser security will not allow you to open EWS, try a different browser.
  • It is not mandatory that you use a manual / static IP address.  Doing so can improve stability.
  • If you assign a manual / static address on the printer, update your router to reflect the assigned IP address.
  • EWS sections might be locked and require the printer’s PIN number to access.  Find the printer’s default PIN inside the ink cartridge ink cartridge / area, or perhaps on the bottom or back of the printer.  Check your printer’s User Guide first chapter for details – search the document for “ PIN “.
